Family. Friends. Love. Smile. Care. Cherish.FaFp
The most significant challenge that I have faced is losing my grandma five years ago. She passed away from a heart attack and was suffering a lot. My grandma was everything to me and still continues to be. She was like a second mom to me and was always there for us. She did everything for us like for example, she would cook for us, be there when we got sick, take us to school, take of care of us, basically she would do everything. I think that this left a big impact in my life because I got really bad anxiety after her death and it was just a hard time for me to losing her. Until this day, I still miss her very much because my family isn’t the same anymore. My whole family went through a hard time too especially my mom. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about her, but I’m glad that she’s not suffering anymore. I think it’s hard for everyone that has lost someone very important to them and it’s something hard to get through it especially during the holidays. The holidays aren’t the same without her, but we are slowly getting through it.
I have taken advantage of my education by doing good in school and getting good grades. I have talked to my teachers and counselor to ask for help and to find a way to get into college. I’m trying to do good in my education to get a good career since my parents didn’t have the opportunity to have a good education and a good career. I also have the advantage of the support from my family especially my parents that are always encouraging me to do good in school and to never give up. I think having the support from your family is huge impact in succeeding and doing good in school because you push yourself harder to not fail them. I have overcame many things with the help of my teachers from not doing so good in writing to being way better now. From them tutoring me to get better, also just learning how to write and read in spanish. I think that I have that advantage of being bilingual which is a very good thing because that will help me later on in the future with my career and just in general. Another advantage that I have is that I have the help of my counselor, she helped me make the right decisions in taking the right classes that will help me with my career path. She wants me to be successful and to have a good job. I feel like I get a lot of help from my teachers and they always find a way to work with me and help me when I need the help. I have faced emotional break downs because sometimes I feel like giving up because working two jobs and going to school can be difficult, but then I put myself into a positive attitude and remind myself that I can accomplish anything, I just have to keep pushing forward and bring myself right back up. I have had the opportunity to get help from my family and others that surround me and value that very much.
I feel like multi-tasking is one of my skills that I have because I am able to do a lot and accomplish everything. Multi-tasking has been a big part in my life because I go to school and switching in between classes to going to work and having two jobs. I know how to organize myself and at the same time work 2 jobs. In many jobs they like to see that you’ll able to do many things and especially being a well organized person will help me later on in the future. I think that just comes naturally to me because I just do it, it’s not like i think about being a multi-tasker. It just naturally comes to me. I also think that this is a meaningful talent/ skill because this can always benefit you in your daily life, especially if you’re a busy person. I also know that I have been improving and getting much better at it. While I’m cleaning or doing homework I can be doing other things at the same time. I can also manage multi-tasking at work because we are always helping each other and doing other things at the same time. I also feel like not many people are able to multi-task, with some people it’s just harder for them or it just doesn’t come to them. Everyone should definitely learn how to multi-task.
I express my creative side by organizing and decorating. I love having everything organized and knowing where everything is. I like to decorate and redecorate. I think I got this passion from my mom because she is the same way. We just love having everything where it’s suppose to be and having everything look nice. I feel like there are many different types of people that don’t like or just don’t know how to have things organized or how to decorate their own things in their own way. This has affected me in a good way because now I know how to be organized and keeping everything in one place, keeping everything cleaned. I also like that when I want to do something my own way and I do it, I feel accomplished and like I can do anything. My approach is different from other people because I have that creative mindset where I want to accomplish many things. I have a passion for music. I listen to music mostly for everything like for when I’m cleaning, doing homework, laying in bed, and much more. I just absolutely love it! I love all types of music and I feel like music will just always help me escape from reality at times.
I define my identity by who I am by my personality and my heritage. For example, my mom is from Tela, Honduras and I feel like that plays a big role in my life because of the person I am today. My dad is from Mexico and that plays another big role because I have many traits that come from there. I feel like my personality identifies my identity as well because I’m an outgoing person and I feel like I’m really friendly and nice. I’m always smiling or laughing and just the fact that I’m easy to get along with identifies me as a happy person. The role of my race is big part as well because I was born here but my parents weren’t and I’m lucky to be bilingual and know two languages which are English and Spanish. I also wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for my parents and grandma who taught me from right to wrong to teaching me how to be independent and never giving up. To always do my best and them encouraging on telling me that I can accomplish anything I want. I think that plays a part in my identity as well. Also, knowing how to go through hard times and getting back up. My family has always been a caring, loving family so I feel like i grew up to be the same and care about others. Also, learning how to respect and show respect to be respected. Being responsible has been something that goes into my identity like working two jobs and going to school. Sometimes getting frustrated with everything, but not giving up and just trying to make the best out of it. I’m most proud of how my mom been an influence on who I am today if it weren’t for her wanting the best for me and teaching me her ways I would probably be a different person.
